Summary of experience

Detailed experience

Atlantic Richfield Oil & Gas Company (ARCO), Jakarta, Indonesia 1992- current

Offshore North West Java Gas Phase II Development and the E-Waterflood Development.

Senior Structural Engineer involved in the planning and execution of the US$1 OOM Offshore North West Java Gas Phase 2 Development and the US$60M E-Water:flood Development. The ONWJ Gas Phase 2 Project involves the building of4 new platforms in the Java Sea or, of re-locating and re-using three existing platforms together with one new platform. Evaluated the economics of platform re-use in the Java Sea for the Zulu and Alpha fields. Wrote the Structural Design Criteria and the Scope of Work, Description of Services and, reviewed and contributed to the preparation of the entire Request for Proposal (RFP) document. Supervised two contractors simultaneously with respect to structural aspects. For the E-Waterflood EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract, evaluated the bids from 8No. bidders and made recommendations on contract award. Also, prepared and reviewed various contract documents.

Ensearch Corporation/Earl & Wright, London. 1991

Shell, Nelson Field Development

Senior Engineer involved in the planning, design and analysis of the l00m. water depth jacket. Work involved the design of the riser system, fatigue analyses and installation analyses.

Foster Wheeler Petroleum Development Ltd, London 1990.

Amerada Hess, Scott Field Development

Senior Structural Engineer involved in the planning, design and analysis of the drilling cum production (DP), and the utilities cum quarters (UQ) topsides. Both were integrated decks with the DP deck weighing 9262T., and the UQ integrated deck weighing 7083 T. Designed to be installed using the Micoperi 7000 SSCV. DP deck supported on 2No. concrete shafts; UQ deck on 1 No. shaft. 142 m. water depth.

Master's Degree in the University of London. 1987-1989.

Stone and Webster Ltd, London. 1986-87.

BP Subsea research and development

Design of Subsea structures and pipelines for expansions in various fields already operating in the British sector of the North Sea. Protective structures for subsea completions in shallow and deep waters.

Brown & Root (UK) Ltd, London. 1981- 85

Norske Shell, Troll Field Development 1985.

Conceptual design of a I 4m. deep plate girder MSF for the 61,000 T. topside, resting on concrete shafts in 340 m, water depth. Work involved carrying-out a finite-element analysis using PAFEC for static in-place, earthquake, transportation and mating conditions.

Conoco (UK) Ltd, Southern Basin Gas Development 1984-85

Design of the 1000 T. 21 m. water depth production platform jacket. Performed the static in-place, offshore lift, earthquake and transportation analyses. Design and analysed the appurtenances for the Production platform; included Subsea design.

Marathon Oil (UK) Ltd., Brae 'B' Development 1984.

Design and analysis of the flare jacket, including a dynamic analysis of this slender structure.

Brown & Root SSCV Project 1984

Various conceptual designs for the then proposed SSCV (Semi Submersible Crane Vessel). Lift capacity was planned at 9000 T. Study included a topsides layout study for the Shell Tern topsides where the topside were to be installed in five major and two minor offshore lifts, as compared to 14 separate lifts from a crane vessel of a lower capacity. Included market research and an economic feasibility study.

BP, Ula Field Development 1983-84

Design of the 5200 T., 70 m. water depth Drilling platform jacket. Performed global accident (boat impact) analysis and, the effects of local damage using plastic analysis techniques, all to NPD requirements. Protection of the deck from dropped objects. Carried-out conductor bracing system design and, jacket joints design with a particular emphasis on fatigue design. Also, ring-stiffened tubular-joints design, static in- place, load out and transportation design and analyses.

Subsequently seconded to the Subsea Engineering team to work on design and analysis of risers and pipelines using the ADLPIPE programme. Design of riser clamps. Various other subsea designs and analyses.

Elf Aquitaine Norge A'S, Heimdal Field Development 1983

Responsible for a special study considering the two-piece offshore lifting of the MSF. Work included engineering supervision, manhour budget control, inter-discipline co-ordination, client liaison and input to the technical report.

Conoco (UK) Ltd., Hutton Field Tension Leg Platform 1981-83

Post-production design analysis of the deck structure. Involved with the deck to hull mating design and analyses. Fatigue analyses using NASTRAN finite element programme. Investigated the structural integrity of the hull using NASTRAN. Involved in inter-discipline co- ordination, clients liaison etc

Sir Owen Williams & Partners, London 1978-80

Design and analysis of various onshore structures.
