Rig Superintendent, Jack up rig Bombay.

1983-1989 Rig Superintendent (Onshore) DAN SMEDVIG LTD., Hareness Road, Altens, Aberdeen
Superintendent in Charge of the Heather Alpha Platform (Unicol) and Logger and Kotter Platforms in the Dutch sector of the North Sea (Conoco).

Prior to this I headed a team seconded to BP to write the BP ISRS Drilling Procedures

I have worked as Onshore Manager for BP Magnus Platform and as Snr. Toolpusher offshore on the same unit, conforming with all operating company standing orders and statutory instructions as laid down for offshore installations by legislation currently in force.

Experience has been gained in 'Top Drive Drilling Systems' and further experience has been with 'Sub Sea Tensioning Systems'. I was also a part of the hook up team on the (Conoco) TLP. Compartment Supervisor responsible for the running and tensioning of mooring legs. I continued to work on the platform as Snr. Toolpusher and Relief Superintendent for the first two years of the drilling programme.

1982-1983 HOULDER MARINE, Morecombe Bay, Blackpool.
Toolpusher in the Morecombe Bay Gas Field, working on a cantilever jack up rig, with slant derrick. Working on this unit has given me solid grounding in shallow deviated drilling procedures.

1976-1982 DAN SMEDVIG LTD. & PEDER SMEDVIG A/S.
Driller: (six years) on the Union Heather 'A' Platform, followed by three and a half years as Toolpusher.

During this period I worked in the Norwegian sector on semi-submersible drilling units, West Venture and West Vanguard. Both these rigs had crown type compensators. Being employed on semi-submersible vessels gave me useful experience working on compensated drilling units

1974-1976 GEO' PROSCO OVERSEAS LTD., Cementation House, Maple Cross, Herts. (Driller)
This position consisted of drilling on a land rig, the Ideco H900 with a crew comprised of British assistant drillers and Indian labour, within the United Arab Emirates.

From the position of 'Roughneck' I was promoted through to Derrickman, then Assistant Driller working on the Beryl 'A' platform. During this employment I also worked on land rigs in Lybia as both Assistant Driller and Driller, using local labour forces.
